The driver of a targeted vehicle was killed and four soldiers in two vehicles sustained injuries. Even as the troops retaliated, both the terrorists managed to escape from the incident site. At Chinkipora, nearly a kilometer from the ambush site, one Constable of the Central Reserve Police Force was hit when he was watching the convoy from the third floor of his camp.
