On January 18, four Security Force (SF) personnel were killed when terrorists from across the Pakistan-Iran border targeted a SF convoy patrolling along the Chukab sector area of Panjgur District in Balochistan, reports Dawn. “Today, in a terrorist activity from across Pakistan-Iran border in Chukab sector, district Panjgur, Balochistan, four security forces personnel have embraced martyrdom,” the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) statement said. It further said that the militants used Iranian soil to “target a convoy of security forces patrolling along the border”. Security forces (SF) gunned down four terrorists during an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in Talsar area of Hoshab in Kech District of Balochistan Province on January 18, reports Dawn. According to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), an IBO was initiated “to clear a hideout linked with firing incidents on security forces along M-8, in general area Talsar, Hoshab” on a tip-off about the presence of terrorists. “As a result of continuous intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) of the area, a location of terrorists was identified and security forces were heli inserted [to nab the terrorists].” During the heavy exchange of fire, all four terrorists were killed, while a cache of arms and ammunition including improvised explosive devices (IEDs) was also recovered from their possession, the ISPR added.

Pakistan Railways spokesperson in Balochistan, Muhammad Kashif, told that the blast occurred when the Peshawar-bound Jaffer Express was passing by the area. The train was coming from Mach area. As a result of the blast, six bogies of the train derailed causing injuries to at least eight people, he added. Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner Kach Agha Samiullah also confirmed the incident. He said it was a remote-control explosion that derailed multiple bogies of the train.

The terrorists were linked with firing and improvised explosive devices (IED) incidents along Turbat-Awaran Road and surrounding areas, read the statement. “Based on credible information, multiple ambushes had been laid along different routes in the area frequented by the terrorists for the last three days,” said the ISPR. A group of three terrorists was intercepted while moving towards their hideout, the ISPR said, adding that on being blocked, they opened fire on the SFs. A statement issued by the CTD said the Quetta CTD received information from a credible source that “notorious TTP sharpshooter” Shakar Din alias Umar Khalid, along with his other associates, was “spotted at a hideout in Surkhab Muhajir Camp in Pishin, and he fully armed, in preparation of another terrorist attack”. Seeing the CTD personnel, terrorists opened fire and in a retaliatory fire four of the terrorists were killed. The statement identified Din’s associates as Ahmadullah, Aminullah and an Afghan citizen, Abdul Fateh. The Balochistan Liberation Front (BLF) on October 16 claimed responsibility for an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) attack on a Security Forces’ convoy in the area between Kinchiti and Hotan in Awaran District of Balochistan on October 13 in which seven soldiers were killed and several others, reports The Balochistan Post. The BLA ‘spokespersons’ Major Gwahram Baloch said that the blast resulted in the destruction of a military vehicle and partially damaged another one killing seven Pakistani soldiers and injuring several others. However, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) had not yet confirmed or denied the BLF’s claims, while local journalists from Quetta have confirmed the incident.

Six non-local labourers, working on a private site, were killed, and another two were injured, by Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) cadres in the Satellite Town area of Turbat city in the Kech District of Balochistan on October 14, reports Geo News. The deceased — which include four family members of which two are brothers — have been identified as Rizwan, Shehbaz, Waseem, Shafiq Ahmed, Mohammad Naeem, and Sikander. According to the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR), Security Forces (SFs) carried out the IBO last night after receiving reports about the presence of terrorists. At least four terrorists were killed during a shootout between a group of terrorists and Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) personnel near Pasni Road in Kech District of Balochistan on November 23, reports Dawn. In a press release, the CTD said it received information about the presence of terrorists near Pasni Road. Upon reaching the location, Security Force (SF) personnel encountered resistance as seven to eight terrorists engaged in gunfire with the SFs, the statement said. RPGs and hand grenades were fired by the terrorists during the encounter. “Later, terrorists tried to flee the scene but the CTD team followed them in hot pursuit. Four terrorists were killed and several others managed to escape using the cover of night,” it added. SFs recovered a cache of weapons, including pistols, grenades, an improvised explosive device (IED)-fitted motorbike, and other arms during the operation.
