At least 11 terrorists, including a militant ‘commander’ and two suicide bombers, were killed in an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in Wana area of South Waziristan District in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on January 5, reports Dawn. According to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Security Forces (SFs) “successfully foiled a high-profile terrorist activity” during the operation. “During intense exchange of fire, 11 terrorists, including terrorist commander Hafizullah alias Tor Hafiz and two suicide bombers, were killed,” the ISPR said. A cache of weapons and ammunitions were also recovered from the possession of killed terrorists.

The suicide attacker was present in the front row during the Zuhr prayer (second prayer offered to God at the noon) when he exploded himself. Sahibzada Noor Ul Amin, Imam of the mosque, was also killed in the blast. Capital City Police Officer, Peshawar (CCPO) Ejaz Khan said close to 300-400 Policemen usually offer prayer at the Zuhr time. The Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) claimed the responsibility for the attack.

Security Forces (SFs) killed 12 Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) terrorists during an Intelligence-Based Operation (IBO) in Lakki Marwat District of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) in the night of February 7, reports Dawn. According to a statement issued by the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR), SFs and the terrorists exchanged fire during which the militants were killed. “Terrorists’ movement and activities were being watched by intelligence tentacles for the last one week. Terrorists were lured in by providing a vehicle for escape that was intercepted and neutralised,” the ISPR said. Weapons, ammunition, and Afghan currency were also recovered from the terrorists during the operation, it stated, adding that SFs were carrying out a clearance operation in the area.

Six Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) terrorists were killed by the Counter-Terrorism Department and Police in a joint intelligence-based operation under Dadiwala Police Station in Lakki Marwat District of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on February 23, reports Dawn. In a statement issued, Lakki Marwat Police spokesperson Shahid Hameed said that the operation was conducted in the jurisdiction of the Dadiwala Police Station after security personnel got a tip-off that terrorists were planning an attack on the Abbas police checkpost. “When the security teams reached the terrorists’ hideout, they opened fire at police officials from multiple directions. The police retaliated as well,” he said. Hameed said that when the firing stopped, the Police searched the site and found the bodies of six terrorists. A cache of arms, ammunition and grenades were recovered from the possession of slain terrorists. Four of the slain terrorists were identified as Ziaullah, Safatullah, Mohibullah and Kaleemullah. The identification of two others was underway, the official said.

He added that 10 kilograms of explosives were used in the blast and ball bearings were found from the crime scene. JUI-F KP spokesperson Abdul Jalil Khan said that JUI-F Member of National Assembly (MNA) Maulana Jamaluddin and Senator Abdul Rasheed were also present during the convention. He confirmed that one of the dead includes JUI-F’s Tehsil Khar Amir Maulana Ziaullah. Though no outfit so far claimed responsibility for the blast, the District Police Officer (DPO) Nazir Khan said initial probe shows that Daesh was involved.

A statement released by the Inter-services Public Relations (ISPR) stated that the SFs conducted an IBO in Charmang on the "reported presence of terrorists". "During the conduct of operation, intense fire exchange occurred between security forces and terrorists," the ISPR added. The dead soldier was identified as Sepoy Muhammad Shoaib (24). One terrorist was also arrested. Weapons, ammunition, and explosives including a suicide vest were recovered from the slain terrorists. According to KP Interim Information Minister Feroze Jamal, two suicide bombers, traveling in a vehicle, managed to reach the mosque but were met with resistance by the Police officers stationed at the mosque entrance. One of the attackers was killed in a shootout with the Police outside the mosque, while the other managed to penetrate the worship place and explode. Two Police officers were also injured during the exchange of fire. Hangu District Police Officer (DPO) Nisar Ahmed said the second blast took place during the Friday sermon. “The roof of the mosque caved in due to the impact of the explosion,” the official stated, adding that nearly 30 to 40 people were reported to be stuck under the rubble. No one has claimed responsibility for the attack yet.

A press release issued by the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) said SFs conducted an IBO in the general area of Kiri Machan Khel last night after receiving reports about the presence of terrorists. “During conduct of the operation, intense fire exchange took place between own troops and terrorists as a result of which seven terrorists were sent to hell. Terrorists hideouts were also busted during the operation,” the ISPR said. “Weapons and ammunition were also recovered from the killed terrorists who remained actively involved in numerous terrorist activities, including recent target killings of police in Tank and surrounding areas,” it added.

In a statement, the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) said an intelligence-based operation (IBO) was conducted in the area on the reported presence of terrorists. The troops effectively engaged the militants’ location and four terrorists were “sent to hell” including a “high-value terrorist, ‘commander, Samiullah alias Shenay, ‘commander’ Salman alias Ahmed, terrorist Imran alias Muhammad and terrorist Hazrat Umar alias Khalid”. “Weapons, ammunition and explosives were also recovered from the slain men, who remained actively involved in numerous terrorist activities, including extortion and targeted killings in the area,” ISPR added. According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), a group of six terrorists attacked a security forces’ checkpost in the Daraban area. “The attempt to enter the post was effectively thwarted which forced the terrorists to ram an explosive-laden vehicle into the post, followed by a suicide bombing attack. The resulting blasts led to the collapse of the building, causing multiple casualties; 23 brave soldiers embraced shahadat, while all six terrorists were effectively engaged and sent to hell,” the ISPR said. Tehreek-i-Jihad Pakistan (TJP), a new group affiliated with the Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), claimed responsibility for the attack on the checkpost. The TJP ‘spokesman’ in his claim said four bombers, belonging to Lakki, Dera Ismail Khan, Swat and Mardan Districts, took part in the attack.
