In an encounter that ensued during this operation, two terrorists, including a member of the Jaish-e-Mohammad, were killed. Unconfirmed reports said that two security force personnel were also killed in the encounter.

On January 24, two terrorists of the People's Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak (PREPAK) of Manipur were killed in an encounter near Dharapur-Chariali, Guwahati. According to sources, a group of three terrorists tried to escape a police check point after alighting from a truck and later fired at the police after being challenged. In the exchange of fire, two of them were killed and one managed to escape the scene of encounter. The dead have been identfied as PREPAK's ‘defence secretary’, Chunglemba Manga and Lamangaba, a ‘lieutenant’ of the outfit’s ‘defence wing’. Some arms and documents were recovered from them.
