On March 6, 12 new recruits of National Socialist Council of Nagaland-Isak-Muivah (NSCN-IM) were arrested from a hotel in super market area in Dimapur in Dimapur District of Nagaland, reports Nagaland Post. Reacting to the incident, a NSCN (I-M) functionary, when contacted, refuted the claims that the apprehend cadres were newly recruits. The functionary clarified that the cadres were being transferred out of Dimapur for which they had to stay in a hotel.
On March 7, Government of India’s Representative and Interlocutor for Naga Peace Talks, R.N Ravi and Working Committee (WC) of the Naga National Political Groups (NNPGs) held a closed-door meeting in New Delhi, reports Nagaland Post. Highly placed sources stated that the meeting was held between the 20-member WC NNPGs delegation led by its convenor, N Kitovi Zhimomi and Governor RN Ravi. The source informed that the issue of the proposed “Upper House” in Nagaland dominated the meeting and that the negotiating parties deliberated, in detail, the composition and functions of the “Upper House”. “The meeting was mainly around the details of the proposed Upper House. We are working on the details so that a draft agreement could be finalised at the earliest,”. Kitovi stated that whatever the two negotiating parties have agreed in principle during negotiations, that concluded on October 31, 2019, have to be finalised and then the same would be forwarded to the Parliament. Earlier on February 23, Kitovi had rubbished speculations that NNPGs were negotiating only for Nagas of Nagaland. He reiterated that special status like separate Regional Territorial Council has been worked out for Nagas living outside Nagaland.
