Officials from President Ashraf Ghani’s office and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Abdullah Abdullah’s offices are preparing for separate swearing-in ceremonies on February 9 (today) despite efforts by politicians to find a solution for the problem, reports Tolo News. Ashraf Ghani was announced the winner by the Independent Election Commission (IEC) amid controversy involving technical problems and allegations of fraud. The electoral crisis heightened after the final results were announced by the IEC on February 19 with both sides claiming victory. The former head of the National Directorate of Security (NDS), Rahmatullah Nabil, who also ran for president, said holding two swearing-in ceremonies is “dangerous” for the country and it will affect the morale of the Afghan security forces.
