Foreign Minister Dinesh Gunawardena on March 25 (today) informed Parliament that the resolution on Sri Lanka which was adopted at the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) was illegal, reports Daily Mirror. Gunawardena said “Sri Lanka considers the resolution as unwarranted. This resolution against Sri Lanka is illegal.” Gunawardena said that Sri Lanka is a sovereign State and will protect that sovereignty. He also said that the new resolution did not have majority support at the Council. However, the Minister said that Sri Lanka will continue engaging with United Nations agencies.
