Nationalist Socialist Council of Nagaland-Kitovi-Neopak (NSCN-KN) ‘chairman’ MB Neokpao Konyak and ato kilonser (Prime Minister) N Kitovi Zhimomi refutes involvement and expressed deep sorrow over the killing of three “Zeliang brothers” by unknown assailants, reports Nagaland Post. Citing the news report of a local channel, which stated that Zeme Council (ZC-Nagaland) president had accused NSCN-KN cadres of committing the act, NSCN-KN said this was totally uncalled for and a blatant attempt to tarnish the good relations between NSCN-KN and Zeliangrong people. It categorically denied any involvement, either by its civil or military workers, in the incident. On March 22, 2021, unidentified gunman killed three people (Zeliang) were killed and two vehicles burnt down by unknown assailants along a disputed Lamhainamdi village located at the border between Peren and Dimapur districts.
Meanwhile, Naga Hoho (apex body of Naga tribe) has condemned the incident and demanded justice for the victims, reports Northeast Now on March 24.the Naga Hoho said at a time when the Nagas are going through unprecedented situations vis-à-vis the Indo-Naga political settlement, all the Nagas should be united and ensure peaceful atmosphere. It appealed to all ‘Naga national groups’ in particular not to create social unrest.
