The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on March 23 filed a charge sheet against five persons in its probe related to formation of Manipur State Council at London, a self-styled organisation which declared Manipur’s independence from India and collected funds for its illegal activities, reports Hindustan Times. Those named in the charge sheet are as follows Narengbam Samarjit Singh, Yambem Biren, Narengbam Biswajit Singh, Elangbam Brojendro Singh, and Akoijam Deepa Anand. Officials said that the five have been charged under the Indian Penal Code and the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act. The charge sheet was filed before a special NIA court in Imphal, Manipur.
