Six people including three brothers were allegedly arrested by Security Forces (SFs) from Kech District of Balochistan and moved to an undisclosed location on May 19, reports The Balochistan Post. According to reports, SFs raided on a house in Pul-Abad area of Kech District, and allegedly arrested four people, three of them are said to be brothers who were identified as Shoib, Junaid, Shay Haq (Sons of Taj Muhammad) and Ghafoor. On May 17, SFs arrested two other persons, identified as Baba s/o Abbas and Asghar s/o Abdul Rehman and shifted them to an unknown location, whose whereabouts still remain unknown.
Meanwhile, the Human Rights Council of Balochistan (HRCB), a human right group mainly based in Sweden, UK and France but focusing on issues in Balochistan, briefed the United Nations Human Rights Council’s Working Group on Enforced or Involuntary Disappearances on the rampant and ubiquitous enforced disappearances in Balochistan, The Balochistan Post reported on May 20. HRCB said that its spokesperson had a virtual meeting with the UN representatives and informed them about all the aspects of enforced disappearances in Balochistan, and the failure of the government rein in the practice. HRCB’s Information Secretary and Spokesperson Abdullah Abbas briefed the UN Human Rights Council’s officials via a Facetime meeting. Abbas briefed the UN representatives about the dire situation of enforced disappearances in Balochistan, and the abortive remedies that the Government has employed to resolve the issue.
