On August 6, the United Liberation Front of Assam- Independent (ULFA-I) and Yung Aung faction of National Socialist Council of Nagaland-Khaplang (NSCN-KYA) have jointly called for a bandh (shutdown) during the Independence Day with effect from midnight of August 14 and continue till 6 pm of August 15, reports News 18. The militant duo also asked the people in Assam, Nagaland, Manipur, Tripura and Meghalaya not to take part in “fake Independence Day activities”, adds Hindustan Times. However, “emergency departments, media and religious activities” would be exempted.
