He was later rescued by a joint team of Dima Hasao Police along with 43 Assam Rifle on January 1. Dima Hasao Superintendent of Police stated that ZUF militants released the victim about 1.5 Kilometres from the abduction sight after rescue operations were launched. Security Forces (SFs) while sweeping the area also recovered .9mm carbine and a magazine with 30 rounds of ammunition.

The villagers, identified as Paradesi Durua, Sitaram Durua, Padia Kabasi, Musiki Durua, Misi Kabashi, Lasimdhar Durua, Adam Padiami and Pandu Madi, were abducted on January 17 by the Maoist rebels on the charge of being ‘Police Informers’ and assaulted them in a ‘Praja court’ (People’s/ Kangaroo Court organized by the Maoists) at a Maoist camp in a forest. The abducted villagers were released on January 20, and warned the villagers not to provide information about the Maoists to Police.

The militants have been identified as ‘lieutenant colonel’ Khoto, ‘major’ Rikhum, ‘major’ Athsong Chang’, ‘captain’ John Pomei and ‘corporal’ Shitmong. A Police Constable was allegedly abducted and killed by the CPI-Maoist cadres in Bijapur District February 4, reports Hindustan Times. “Assistant constable Sitaram Bagde, abducted last night (February 4), was found dead near Kachlaram village under Farsegarh police station limits this morning (February 5),” Deputy Inspector General (DIG, south Bastar range), Sundarraj P said. The Maoists set ablaze a passenger bus near Kachlaram between Farsegarh and Toynar late on February 3, after asking its occupants to get down, the officer said. Subsequently, they stopped some passersby, including Bagde, who was on his motorcycle, at the spot. “When Naxals discovered his identity, they took him to forest along with them,” he said. Bagde’s body with his throat slit was spotted by some locals this morning, the DIG said.

Sources said nearly 15 armed Maoists barged into Sahu’s house at around 8 pm and dragged him out. Later, they abducted him to the nearby forest and subsequently killed him. INR 2,00,000 was recovered from the arrestees.nterrogation revealed that an engineer of a private firm Bharatiya Company Limited which is undertaking construction work in Manipur was abducted and the company had paid INR 2.5 million for his release on May 10. A militant also stated that INR 1.3 million was being transported by wife of ‘deputy secretary of revenue’. The information was shared with Imphal West District Police and they arrested her at Koirengei in Imphal East District and recovered the money she was transferring.Later on the same day, another NSCN-K cadre was arrested from Police Bazaar in Shillong in East Khasi Hills District, reports Northeast Today. Militants on July 28 evening set free Special Police Officer (SPO) Mudasir Ahmad Lone after his mother made a passionate appeal to the abductors to ‘forgive’ and release her son, reports Greater Kashmir. Mudasir Ahmad Lone was abducted from his home at Chan Kitar in Tral in Pulwama District by three militants when he was repairing his bike inside the courtyard on July 27. Police source said that Lone was home on leave. He is posted at Police post at Reshipora in Awantipora, as a cook. He had been selected as an SPO last year (2017).On July 28 Hareefa, mother of the SPO addressed media at her home at Chan Kitar, Tral. “He is my only son. He was supposed to announce during Friday prayers that he was quitting police job but some work held him back,” she said. “You are also my own children. I request you to kindly set him free and he will quit the job and apologise for all his mistakes. If you hear any complaint in future you can kill us all,” she appealed with folded hands and broke down. “A few hours after his mother’s appeal the abductors released Lone. SP Tahir Khan Dawar left his residence inIslamabad for an evening walk on October 27 but did not return home.His mobile phone's last location was traced somewhere in Jhelum town ofPunjab. After being contacted, he said that he was fine and therewas no threat to his life.The Islamabad Police had constituted various teams to trace him.Peshawar City Police in a statement said that the officer had been on a short leave to Islamabad to meet his family. His abductors released a picture of him along with a letter of the Khurasani faction of Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP)'s claiming responsibility for the kidnapping and the killing.Information Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Shaukat Yusafzai said that Dawar was ruthlessly killed by the abductors inAfghanistan. He was in captivity for 18 days. The Afghan Foreign Ministry has confirmed the recovery of a body with the service card of Dawar.The ministry has informed the Pakistan Embassy in Kabul that the body was found by local people in Dur Baba District ofNangarhar province.The body, being transferred to Jalalabad by the Afghan authorities, was yet to be received by the Consul General of Pakistan inJalalabad. It would be subsequently transferred to Pakistan via Torkham border.TTP ‘spokesman’ Muhammad Khalid Khurasani has denied that Dawar was killed by the Taliban.In a statement, he said that some journalists for cheap popularity attributed the murder of the Pakistani Police officer to the TTP.He said that the TTP has its own channels and websites to claim responsibility for any incident."We are not afraid of anyone," he said, warning the journalists of dire consequences for attributing fabricated news to the TTP.Though nobody claimed responsibility for the kidnapping and killing, the letter found along with the body carried the name ofWilayat Khorasan, which is used by the militants of the Islamic State (IS) for border regions of Pakistan and Afghanistan.

SATP had earlier reported that civilian, identified as Nadeem Mushtaq was killed by militants on November 15 night. Police said militants in the intervened night forcibly abducted a civilian and later killed him in a brutal act of terror at Pulwama in Pulwama District. HM later released two separate videos in which their militants are seen indiscriminately shooting at Nadeem from point blank range. In one of the videos, the militants, who are not visible, are commanding Nadeem, who is crouching on the ground, not to look at them. Later one of the militants is heard asking him what harm his two associates Abrar had caused to him before firing indiscriminately at him. In another video, Hizbul ‘operations commander’ Riyaz Naikoo, who is not visible, claimed that Nadeem was an informer who helped Security Forces (SFs) in killing two militants at Safnagri recently.

The abducted men were Shahid Ahmad Ganie son of Mohammad Amin of Saidpora Payeen, Farooq Ahmad Thoker son of Abdul Aziz Thoker of Saidpora Payeen and Huzaif Ashraf alias Raja Qandur son of Mohammad Ashraf of Manzgam Kulgam. However, on November 17 evening, two among the three abducted were released while as one among them Huzaif Ashraf was killed. But a local contractor, Lokesh Dongarwar, working on the Gattepalli-Wattegatta road, hadn’t complied,” said Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP), Hari Balaji. “Today, 10 drivers of his vehicles came to our Halewara post to inform that they were taken to the jungle on gunpoint by 10 Maoists and kept hostage for the whole night. In the evening, the Maoists set afire to 14 of their vehicles — nine excavators, four tractors and one pick-up vehicle. The drivers were allowed to go in the morning.” However, the employees, all drivers, were allowed to go on December 1 morning, Policesaid. Earlier, South Asia Terrorism Portal (SATP) had reported that Maoist guerillas burnt 14 vehicles belonging to a road contractor in Etapalli tehsil in Gadchiroli District on November 30.
