January 4

Suspected Bodo terrorists open indiscriminate fire killing two civilians and injure five others at Garuwa Bazar under Lalpool police station limits in the Darrang district.

January 6

26 United Liberation Front of Asom (ULFA) terrorists, including three women cadres, surrender before Chief Minister Hiteswar Saikia in Guwahati along with six US-make revolvers, two mine bombs, one .303 rifle, one .38 revolver and one double barrel gun.

January 22

Nine daily wage labourers are killed and eight others sustain injuries during an attack by Bodo Security Force (BSF) terrorists on a labour camp at Bosongaon near Kokrajhar town.

February 25

27 persons, including four soldiers, are killed in two powerful explosions by suspected National Socialist Council of Nagaland-Isak-Muivah (NSCN-IM) cadres in a compartment of the Brahmaputra Mail at Lilalung in Nagaon district.
