Maulana Sheikh Abdus Salam (62), a founder of the banned militant outfit Harkat-ul-Jihad-al Islami Bangladesh (HuJI-B) and a death-row prisoner, died at Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital in Sylhet District on November 4, reports The Daily Star. He was admitted to the Hospital from Sylhet Central Jail and died while undergoing treatment at the hospital. Abdus Salam had been suffering from diabetes, hypertension, and other complications, the Jail Superintendent said. The HuJI-B leader was sentenced to death on October 10, 2018 in two cases filed in connection of the August 21, 2004 grenade blasts at Bangabandhu Avenue in Dhaka city.
