Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) cadres abducted five villagers including a young woman from Bater village in Konta Tehsil (revenue unit) in Sukma District of Chhattisgarh on November 7, reports The Free Press Journal. Superintendent of Police (SP) Sunil Sharma confirmed the abduction and said, the Naxals [Left Wing Extremists, LWEs] were frustrated with the speeding up of developmental works, construction of roads, buildings, opening of Police Stations and camps, and thus, to terrorize them they abducted the villagers. However, according to sources, two months ago in an encounter between Security Forces (SFs) and Maoists, close to the forest village in which the ultras lost two of its cadres. After that incident the Maoists had suspicion over the abducted villagers that they might have played a role as ‘Police informers’. Meanwhile, members of Sarva Adivasi Samaj Sukma appealed to the Maoists to release villagers.
