Police on April 23 recovered an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) at Circle Road in Pulwama town (Pulwama District) in Jammu and Kashmir, reports India Blooms. Police said the IED was neutralised by Bomb Disposal Squad.
Further, SFs neutralised one IEDs at Degree College in Gagran area of Shopian District on April 23, reports Daily Excelsior. An official said that an IED in a bag was thrown towards a Police vehicle at Degree College. However, the IED, weighing around six kilograms was neutralised and a major incident was averted.
Meanwhile, Border security force (BSF) on April 24-night foiled attempts by Pakistan-controlled drones to drop arms and ammunition in the Arnia sector of the Jammu District, reports Swarajya. BSF sources said, two unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) were spotted over Vikram and Jabowal border outposts on the Indian side of the border in the Arnia sector. "BSF troops fired around 15 rounds to force these to withdraw back into Pakistan side of the border. The UAVs finally failed to drop their payload", sources added.
Separately, Police on April 25 arrested three Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) Over Ground Worker (OGW) who were allegedly in Jammu and Kashmir Bank robbery cases and killing of a former Special Police officer (SPO) in Pattan area of Baramulla District, reports Daily Excelsior. The arrested OWGs were identified as Nisar Ahmad Bhat son of Ghulam Mohammad Bhat of Singhpora Pattan, Rahil Ahmad Parray son of Bashir Ahmad Parray of Kanihama Magam and Arif Ahmad Mir son of Ghulam Ahmad Mir of Mazhama. Police said that trio was working at the behest of LeT ‘commander’ Yousuf Dar alias Kantru and another militant of the outfit - Abrar Nadeem Bhat. The trio were involved in recent robbery at J&K Bank Khore Sherabad on April 22 as well as a string of other such incidents including Grameen Bank Ogmuna on March 12, Grameen Bank Panzinara on March 16 and J&K Bank Branch at Chandipora on March 24. “So far investigation revealed that they decamped with total cash of Rs. 9,51,896 in all these incidents. They were also involved in looting of Rs 3,50,000 from a petrol pump at Budgam on February 18”, police said.
Elsewhere, one Al-Badr terrorist was arrested during a joint search operation in Nagbal village of Chrar-i-Sharif in Budgam District on April 24, reports Zee News. The terrorist was identified as Gulzar Ahmad Bhat resident of Bathpora Arwani in Anantnag District. Arms and ammunition including one Chinese Pistol, one Pistol Magazine, 14 Pistol rounds, two AK Magazine, 58 AK rounds and incriminating materials of proscribed terror outfit Al-Badr were recovered from his possession.
In addition, SFs on April 23 arrested an OGW, identified as Ghulam Rasool Var of Gonipora Hyhama, along with arms and ammunition at Dharmbadi area of Lolab Kupwara in Kupwara District, reports Daily Excelsior. 10 hand grenades, a pistol, 2 pistol magazines and 15 rounds were recovered from his possession.
