Police arrested Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) cadre identified as Sodi Deva (24) during combing operations in the forests near Geesarelli village of Cherla Mandal (administrative sub-division) of Bhadradri Kothagudem District in Telangana, on April 23, reports Telangana Today. The arrested CPI-Maoist cadre, Deva is a “Deputy Commander” of the CPI-Maoist party’s 5th company, 2nd Platoon ‘A’ section and resident of Goddaliguda village which falls under the limits of Dornapal Police Station of Sukma District in Chhattisgarh. He joined CPI-Maoist in the year 2011 and worked in Sukma and Kanker Districts of Chhattisgarh and was involved in exchange of fire incidents with Border Security Force (BSF) jawans near Ravugat area, Marram village under Kolibeda Police station limits and in an attempt on the life of a BJP leader, Manthu in Pakhanjur area in Kanker District in 2015. Deva was also involved in exchange of fire incidents with Police personnel in 2016, 2018 and in 2020 at various places in Sukma and Kanker Districts. The Police seized five detonators, 20 gelatin sticks and 200 meters cordex wire from his possession, said Superintendent of Police (SP), Sunil Dutt
