Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) cadres shot dead civilian identified as Dom Chaki (29) in Kudaburu village under Sonua Police Station area in West Singhbhum District of Jharkhand on April 23, reports Times of India.
Separately, Three CPI-Maoist cadres set ablaze a hyva truck and damaged contractor’s jeep and injured four labourers engaged in road construction work in Suruburu village under Toklo Police Station limits in West Singhbhum District of Jharkhand on April 24, reports Times of India. A private agency is engaged in a INR 110 million project for constructing a road from Surubura to Baidih at Toklo in Chakradharpur. CPI-Maoist cadres arrived at the construction on a motorcycle and asked the labourers to stop work immediately, following which they set the vehicle on fire and beat up the workers before fleeing the spot, said Toklo Police Station in-charge, Wilson Gudia.
Additionally, Naxals [Left Wing Extremism (LWE)] blow up railway track by installing landmines near Lotapahar in Chakradharpur railway division in West Singhbhum District of Jharkhand on August25, reports Aajtak. Train operations in Chakradharpur railway division in Howrah-Mumbai main rail route have been stopped since the incident.
Meanwhile, Police issued an alert in Jharkhand in view of the Bharat Bandh called by CPI-Maoist on April 26, reports Prabhat Khabar The Police headquarters has received information that Naxals may carry out violent incidents, attack on Police camps or patrolling parties or killing of Special Police Officer’s (SPO’s) during the bandh and railway tracks, bridges, government establishments or development sites can be attacked. Posters have also been pasted at some places in Murhu in Khunti District of Jharkhand by Naxals before the bandh.
