The arrested militants identified as Okram Manitomba alias Ango Meitei, Sorokhaibam Goroba Singh alias Ngangba, Sorokhaibam Arbin Singh, Thongam Singhajit Meitei and Irengbam Gitchandra revealed that they were involved in three IED explosions, one the February 20 IED attack on ITBP personnel, the IED blast on January 26 at Kakching Khunou Lamkhai near Uyok Bridge as well as IED blast at Wangoo Lamkhai area in early hours of January 26. Three detonators and three batteries for remote control were recovered from their possession.

During a search operation following the encounter National Socialist Council of Nagaland––Isak-Muivah (NSCN-IM) and 6 Assam Rifles (AR), the arms and ammunition were recovered. Meanwhile, villagers in Kapu, including women and children, protested against nefarious activities of the militants in the area. The villagers held placards against the insurgent groups for their “frequent acts of brutal terror” and “illegal extortion”. According to Police sources, an operation was launched on the night of April 4 about the presence of former NLFB militants suspected to have been involved in dacoity incidents in three villages along the India-Bhutan border on March 29. The suspected dacoits, who were hiding inside a house, opened fire on the police team and in an exchange of fire, the two militants identified as Mahanta Narzary, a former member of NLFB, and Raja Boro were neutralized. Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) (Headquarters) Prakash Medhi and his bodyguard also sustained bullet injuries. Around two-three people who were inside the house, however, managed to escape and search operations have been launched to nab them. Two pistols were recovered from the encounter site.

On June 6, a National Revolutionary Front Manipur (NRFM) militant was arrested for involvement in a series of IED blasts, including the June 5 IED attack at Little Flower School from Kangla Sangomshang area in Imphal East District of Manipur, reports Imphal Free Press. The arrested militant identified as Thounaojam Rishi Luwangcha was apprehended along with a jar marked as ‘Mahaan Instant Dairy Creamer’ during a cordon and search operation. One detonator fitted on a Cordtex wire of approximately 1 feet in length, 58 Plastic Explosive Kirkee (PEK) sticks weighing around 7.358 kg, 3 coils of Cordtex wire with approximately 51 feet in length, 397 detonators in boxes and 2 batteries were found inside the jar. Upon further search of his house, some mechanical tools used in assembling the explosive substances including one soldering iron rod; one bolt cutter (wire plier); one ratchet wire stripper; one cutter blade; 18 small iron rods and one electric insulating tape were recovered. One Huyndai i20 car black in colour bearing registration number MN05A-5899 and some particular clothes used in commission of the recent bomb blast were also recovered. The NRFM militant during interrogation revealed that he had started working for the militant outfit in September 2021 under the command of a self-styled ‘chairman’ Dhaballo who is presently staying in Bangladesh. Rishi further disclosed that he was behind the series of bomb blasts in Imphal - one shop at Nagamapal on May 5; at one house located at Khurai Thoidingjam Leikai on May 6 and the recent blast at Little flower school gate on June 5. The explosive substances were handed over to him by his commander through one unknown person in the month of January, 2022 and was paid INR 30,000 for each bomb blast.

According to NIA, during search operation, digital devices and incriminating documents were recovered. The case was related to the seizure of a huge quantity of 2,421.12 kg explosives, including 1,000 detonators and 4,500 metres of detonating fuse, as well as Indian and Myanmarese currency from a vehicle in Zawnling area under the Tipa Police Station (PS) intended for the Myanmar-based outfit – Chin National Front (CNF). The case was initially registered on January 21 at the Tipa Police Station in Saiha District and was re-registered by the NIA on March 21.

According to official sources, the slain militant identified as Gyan Asom was part of the six cadres team led by commander, Rupom Asom who allegedly had taken shelter at Dapather Majgaon under Kakopathar Police Station (PS). Based on this information, when Security Forces (SF) approached the house, militants started firing and hurled two grenades. In retaliation, two militants were injured. However, only the body of Gyan Asom was recovered, while another militant identified as Rinku Asom is missing. Two bags containing grenades was recovered from the encounter spot. Based on specific information regarding the transportation of drugs, Police intercepted two vehicles. During the search operation, three persons including a woman identified as Avi alias Angela, Pavei Saichama and Veio were arrested along with 99 boxes containing 1.330 kilograms heroin. The arrested trio was carrying the drugs from Manipur and had used the Rengma Basti route to enter Assam to avoid the routine police check in Khatkhati.
