Six Naxalites belonging to the CPI-Maoist, Communist Party of India-Marxist Leninist (CPI-ML) Janashakthi, and CPI-ML Prajapratigatana, including two minors, surrendered before senior police officials in the Warangal district on January 12. They were working for the Penukonda and Penna Ahobilam squads, according to The Hindu. The surrendered Maoists were identified as Shankar alias Madhu, G. Ramanji alias Diwakar and T. Triveni alias Manjula. B. Nagaraju of Sanapa village was a sympathiser. Later speaking to newspersons, the OSD warned the Maoists against extortion from contractors.
