ULFA-I’s Arunodoi Asom said the executed leader, Partha Asom alias Partha Pratim Gogoi, was the ‘assistant finance secretary’ and an ‘operational commander’ in the outfit. There were eight major allegations against Partha Asom. He leaked ULFA plans to police and security forces. He was also accused of planning to surrender to Police on January 26.He was executed after all the allegations were proved with documentary evidence.”

Lyari remain tensed as an armed clash occurred between rival groups of gangsters of the area on January 15, reports Daily Times. Two gangsters were killed in a joint encounter of police and rangers in the same locality. Police sources said that the clash started at Jhat Phat Market, Lyari between the members of Baba Ladla Group and defunct People’s Amn Committee (PAC) over the dispute of extortion money collection from vendors of the area. During the clash, both the groups used hand grenades, crackers, rockets and various weapons, and as a result tension prevailed in the area and adjacent localities of Lyari. A gangster belonging to PAC, named Zubair Hameed sustained bullet wounds and died on the spot, while at least six people including a volunteer Junaid, Muneez, Hunain, Naseer, Haji Ali and Ameen also sustained wounds in the clash.

A local security official said that fighting erupted in the night of April 11 when militants belonging to Wali-ur-Rahman Group ambushed a vehicle carrying members of the Hakimullah Group close to the border of North and South Waziristan. At least 14 cadres of the Tritiya Prastuti Committee (TPC), a splinter group of the Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist), were killed by the Maoists at Choti Kauriya village under Vishrampur Police Station limits in Palamu District early on August 9, reports The Telegraph. Around 18 TPC cadres had taken shelter in the house of a fellow villager, Balram Sahu, when a huge squad of over 250 Maoists swooped down on Choti Kauriya village and killed some 14 of them while four of the cadres managed to flee. After the mass killing, the Maoists took away all the bodies before Police could reach the spot and Maoist ‘spokesperson’ Manaj Ji later claimed responsibility for the killings, saying it was a revenge for the Chatra attack on March 27, 2013, when the TPC had killed 10 of their aides. ‘Sub-zonal commander’ of the Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist), Kauleshwari zone, Chetlal Yadav alias Hansraj, was shot dead at Daihar in Chouparan town in Hazaribagh District in the mid-night of November 10, reports The Telegraph.
