One person, identified as Bitu Mandal was killed and another one was critically injured as both were reportedly shot at point blank range by the cadres of Khaplang faction of National Socialist Council of Nagaland (NSCN-K) near Zunheboto town in Zunheboto District on October 5, reports Morung Express. Police sources said that the victims, both non-Naga manual labourers, were reportedly blindfolded with both hands and legs tied and shot at point blank range. NSCN-K’s ‘ministry of information & publicity (MIP)’ in a press release informed that People’s Army of Nagaland (Naga Army) has awarded “capital punishment to two active Indian undercover agents at Zunheboto on October 5.” It also warned that NSCN-K would “not tolerate or spare any espionage activities against the Naga struggle and the same yardstick shall be applied to irrespective of one’s citizenship i.e. local Naga or Indian.”

One of the civilians injured in an attack by the cadres of Khaplang faction of National Socialist Council of Nagaland (NSCN-K) near Zunheboto town in Zunheboto District on October 5, died on October 6, reports The Sangai Express. As reported earlier, one civilian was killed and another one was injured when both were reportedly shot at point blank range by the NSCN-K cadres near Zunheboto town. A press statement from the Assam Rifles (AR) on October 6 said, "However, as per inputs received from the civil administration the two non-Nagas who were shot by NSCN (K) were daily wage labourers from Bihar", reports The Sangai Express. "One of the labourers had been working in Nagaland for the past ten years while the second labourer had arrived only around mid September 2015. How Bihari daily wage labourers can provide information of NSCN (K) cadres to the Army can only be explained by the murderers who have carried out the execution or their wise leaders who have ordered the execution," it added. "It is well known that NSCN (K) is facing problems of very low morale among their cadres. There is severe trust deficit between NSCN (K) cadres from Nagaland and Myanmar," said the press release. Shortage of funds and fresh recruits is another problem being faced by them. The intention of murdering the two innocent labourers appears to be an act of frustration and desperation

Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) cadres killed a 20-year-girl, identified as Sanjeeta Kumari, whose blood-stained body was found near the hills of Gumla in Jharkhand. Kumari, who also went by the name of Guddi, was lured into the outlaw group when she was 11 by a neighbour and transformed from a cook into a crack shot, serving under the Maoist banner for eight years, before she decided to return to mainstream. The 20-year-old ran away from the rebels and went into hiding in Gumla, where she rented a house and enrolled herself at a local school but the outlaws continued to threaten her regularly. When Hindustantimes (HT) met her on July 28, Guddi recounted chilling tales of the looming threat to her life but said she was committed to her studies and wouldn’t return to the extremist fold under any condition. “I cannot surrender because the moment my leaders come to know, they will kill my parents and siblings,” she told HT, on the condition that her story wouldn’t be published. “I will be able to study as long as I am not identified and captured or my bosses in the jungle do not take me away forcibly,” she said. When she went home to see her parents and siblings in the Maoist-infested village of Sibil on October 6, she was abducted by the insurgents, who left a handwritten note saying Guddi had to die because she didn’t mend her ways despite several warnings.

Shankar Wadde (30), working as Special Police Officer (SPO), was shot dead outside Mallumpodur village in Bhamragarh tehsil (revenue unit) in Gadchiroli District of Maharashtra by cadres of the Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) who had earlier abducted him on October 6 from his home. The villagers were stunned to spot Wadde's body outside the hamlet laid along the roadside on October 9. In the past too, Wadde was abducted on two occasions by Maoists but was spared. Superintendent of Police (SP), Gadchiroli, Sandip Patil said Bhamragarh Local Organizational Squad (LOS) was likely involved in cold-blooded murder. "Naxals have killed one innocent villager every month this year. The latest seemed outcome of the desperation of the Naxals of Bhamragarh LOS who may wanted to prove their presence with this incident as the formation had no significant action in the past," said Patil. He added Naxals had killed nine civilians this year. The Maoists, after having murdered Wadde, also ensured they left behind their pamphlets owning up the murder and labelling the victim as police informer.
