A man was killed and another injured after a suicide bomber blew himself up near a police check-post at the confluence of Khyber Agency and Peshawar on January 23, according to Associated Press of Pakistan. Assistant Political Agent Jamrud Rasool Khan told reporters that the attacker was apparently targeting the police check-post near the Karkhano market. However the explosion occurred before he got closer to the check-post. A man who was standing near the blast site was killed while a truck driver was injured.

A leader of the Pak Sarzameen Party (PSP),Abdul Habib (40), was shot dead in a suspected targeted attack near Sakhi Hasan Chowrangi in North Nazimabad Town of Karachi, the provincial capital of Sindh, in the evening of February 18, reports Dawn.As Abdul Habib, who was driving a Land Cruiser, came out from a street onto the main road, assailants riding a motorcycle opened indiscriminate fire on him near Serena mobile market and fled, according to Taimuria Police.Habib, who was alone in the vehicle, sustained critical bullet injuries and later succumbed to his injuries.PSP spokesperson Iftikhar Alam said that the victim was a leader of their party. He had also contested the 2018 elections on a PSP ticket for the Sindh Assembly seat of PS-122. “It appeared to be a targeted killing incident,” said Additional Inspector General (AIG), Karachi, Dr Amir Ahmed Shaikh.

At least four Taliban militants including their ‘commander’, identified as Zalmaialias Sangari were killed, and seven others injured during a clash with the security guards of Vice President General Abdul Rashid Dostum in Balkh province, Khamma Press reports on March 31. One security guard of Gen. Dostum was also killed and two others were wounded during the clash. The 209th Shaheen Corps in a statement said the Taliban militants had laid an ambush against the convoy of General Dostum in Alam Khel, Margin Tapa, Sharsharak, Khanabad, Slaiman Khel, Joi Uzbek, Timorak, and Choba villages of Chahar Bolak District. The statement further added that the Afghan Special Forces who were conducting operations in the area were deployed to support the security guards of Dostum. The security guards of Dostum also arrested one of the ‘commanders’ of Taliban and have taken him with themselves to Shebarghan city, the 209th Shaheen Corps said.

The Maoists blew up the vehicle of the Dantewada MLA with an Improvised Explosive Device (IED)and opened fire at the occupants atShyamagiri Hills, when the MLA’s convoy was heading towards Kuwakonda from Bacheli area in Dantewada.The four security personnel were identified as head constables ChhaganKuldeep and RamlalOyami, constable SomduKawasi and driver-constable DanteshwarMaurya. Militants shot dead the senior RashtriyaSwayamsevakSangh (RSS) functionary, Chanderkant Sharma and his Personal Security Officer (PSO), Rajinder Kumar, at the District Hospital Kishtwar in Kishtwar District on April 9, reports Daily Excelsior. According to reports, around 12.45pm one of the militants in the disguise of burqa-clad woman, entered the District Hospital, brought out an AK rifle from black bag and straightway targeted PSO of Chanderkant Sharma, killing him on spot. Sharma, realizing trouble, tried to shift his location but the militant targeted him, causing him serious injuries. However, he succumbed to his injuries later at the hospital. The militant escaped from the hospital within a couple of minutes taking along with him the AK rifle of slain PSO. Mohammed Arbab (55) was coming out of the Minarul Huda Masjid in Sachal Goth near MurtazaChowk after offering Fajr (Morning) prayers when unidentified assailants on motorcycle opened indiscriminate fire on him and fled, said Malir Town Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Irfan Bahadur. “It appeared to be a targeted killing incident,” the SSP added. However, he ruled out the possibility of a sectarian motive being behind the murder. He pointed out that the deceased was a prayer leader (Khateeb) of the mosque belonging to the AhleHadees school of thought. SSP Bahadur believed that there was no history of targeting AhleHadees followers on sectarian grounds. The victim’s father is also a Khateeb of the same mosque.

Quetta Deputy Inspector General of Police Abdul Razzaq Cheema said “At least three people, including prayer leader Hafiz AtaurRehman, have been martyred in the blast, while 28 worshipers have been injured”. According to Kanju Police, Feroz Shah was going home after offering Maghrib (sunset) prayers that unidentified gunmen who were waiting on him opened fire, leaving him critically injured. His personal guard was also injured in the attack. They both were rushed to the Saidu Sharif Teaching Hospital where Shah succumbed to injuries.
