The insurgents reportedly attacked the District Police Office, an SF battalion, district prison and also torched some Government offices during the incident. They also freed some 30 prisoners from the prison, even as reports added that SFs have successfully repulsed the Maoist attack.

During a press meeting in the capital Kathmandu on April 11, country director of the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation, Jorg Frieden, said his Government decided not to go for the appointment of a special UN rapporteur to Nepal (under Agenda Item 9) as being demanded by international rights groups. Further he said, "Switzerland will, however, sponsor another proposal (under Agenda Item no. 19) to set up an institutional mechanism for monitoring the rights situation in Nepal." The resolution tabled under Agenda Item 19 will reportedly address serious issues like human rights abuses by the Maoists and responsibility of the Government (after UN monitors submit their reports).
