From Anis' house at Harbhanga village, firearms, bomb-making materials, a sword and books on Jihad were recovered. Local sources said that the outfit has been active at Debipur, Chatian, Bauot, Harbhanga, Karamdi and Katdah villages under the Gangni sub-district for the last eight years.

According to Daily Star, security agencies on April 14 and April 13-night arrested 28 Islamist militants at Bogra, Tangail, Pabna, Meherpur and Jamalpur. Bogra police arrested eight people, including Abdul Mannan, brother-in-law of the executed Jama'atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) leader Abdul Awal, from different places in Bogra Sadar and in Gabtoli on April 14 for their alleged involvement in militancy. Tangail police arrested eight members of an unidentified Islamist militant outfit on April 14-night during a raid at Purba Adalat Para in the Tangail town. Those arrested allegedly told police during interrogation that they were organising a Jihad and other members of the group remain active in different places in the country but their militant wing is yet to be formed and named. Further, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) personnel arrested four suspected JMB cadres after raiding two villages in Pabna. The RAB also arrested six militants of the Hizbut Touhid from Meherpur.

The joint forces arrested Arafat Rahman, younger son of former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia, during a raid at her residence in the capital Dhaka on April 15-night, according to Daily Star. However, it was still not known on what charges Arafat Rahman was detained and where he was taken. A couple of hours before Arafat was arrested, top officials of the joint forces reportedly had gone to Khaleda's residence and advised her to leave the country. She is learnt to have told the joint forces that she is ready to face any consequence but will not leave the country. Her elder son Tarique Rahman, who was arrested on March 8 by the army-led security forces, was sent to jail on March 12.

A case was filed on April 16-night against two Jamaat-e-Islami (JeI) leaders in Satkhira, including detained former parliamentarian Gazi Nazrul Islam, for their alleged involvement in extortion. Daily Star reports that Gazi Nazrul Islam has already been detained by the joint forces after his name was included in the second list of graft suspects published by the Anti-Corruption Commission on March 9. The complainant, S.M. Abdur Rashid from Chakbara village in the Shyamnagar sub-district, filed the case with Shyamnagar Police Station claiming that Gazi Nazrul Islam and his uncle Gazi Abdus Sobhan extorted Taka 50,000 from him on May 7, 2005.

The arrested militants told police that they wanted to establish Allah's rule in the country under the leadership of Matin Mehdi of Gaibandha. Matin is an absconding JMB leader convicted in one of the August 17, 2005-serial bomb blasts case in Gaibandha and another bomb blast case in Jhenidah.

The recoveries were made at the Badda locality of capital Dhaka. The seizure included 34 kilograms of power-gel packed in 68 packets (each containing 500gm), 40 improvised iron casings for making grenades, four kilograms of ammonium nitrate in eight packets (each containing 500gm) and a book on Jihad. The leaders were identified as Asadul Islam alias Arif, a member of JMB's reconstituted Majlish-e-Shura (the highest decision-making body), and Anwar Hossain alias Faruq, a Shura (governing body) member. The others were the outfit’s regional commander for Mymensingh, Shafiqul Islam alias Rakib, Sagar Hossain alias Sayem and Saiful Islam. Arif was convicted in absentia for the killing of two judges at Jhalakathi on November 14, 2005. Six others convicted in the same case, including the outfit’s chief Abdur Rahman and his deputy Bangla Bhai, were executed in different jails on March 29, 2007. Two 9mm pistols with nine bullets, seven computers, a large number of compact disks and books on jihad were recovered from the arrested militants. Hasan Mahmud Khandakar, Director-General of the RAB, told New Age, "We succeeded in breaking the backbone of the banned outfit, but we decided to intensify our drives to nab the outfit’s members who are scattered throughout the country".

He was arrested from his shop 'Messrs Karim Hardware' near the RUET main gate and after interrogation said that he himself had planted all the bombs only to create panic among the locals. Speaking to Daily Star, Rajshahi RAB Director Lt Col Shamsuzzaman Khan, however, said, "It is difficult to believe that Tutul manufactured and planted the powerful bombs only to create panic. The cache included 60 kilograms of explosives, 16 grenades, rifles, handguns, various equipment and ammunition. Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) sources said that two of the nine arrested had taken part in the August 21, 2004 grenade blasts at an Awami League (AL) rally in capital Dhaka, while the rest were involved indirectly in the incident. On September 10, police arrested two suspected activists of the Hijbut Tawhid from Binnakuli market area under Tahirpur police station in the Sunamganj district, reports Daily Star. The duo was identified as Mujibur Rahman Zehadi and Zahidul Islam Zehadi. Police recovered 20 books on Islam, over 100 jihadi leaflets, two mobile phones and a SIM card from their possession.
