Suspected Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) cadres raided the forest beat office at Gapiballavpur block (administrative division) in the West Midnapore District in the night of January 6 and looted cash from the employees, reports Indian Express. According to Police, a group of 20-25 armed Maoists entered Kamlashole forest beat office, which is 10 kilometres from the Orissa border. They ransacked the beat office and allegedly looted INR 36,000 from four employees. They also looted traditional weapons used by the tribals which were seized by the forest guards, Police said. The Maoists also allegedly assaulted the forest guard.

Six persons, including two women were killed and seven others were injured when over a dozen militants armed with Kalashnikov rifles, pistols and hand-grenades attacked the office of World Vision International, a US-based Christian aid agency, in Oghi village in Mansehra of North West Frontier Province (NWFP) on March 10, reports The News. According to the Police, all the victims were of Pakistani origin. An official of the World Vision, Muhammad Sajid, who was present in his office at that time, told reporters the militants made the staff members hostage in a hall and then dragged them to an adjacent room and killed them one by one. Before escaping, the militants detonated an explosive device, damaging the building.

Militants abducted brother of a Special Police Officer (SPO) from his house at village Harni in the Gursai area of Poonch District but released him after handing over him after assault in the night of October 3, reported Daily Excelsior. Reports said two unidentified militants stormed into the house of Parvez Ahmed, who was posted as a SPO in Mendhar. While the SPO was not present in his house, the militants abducted his brother Mohammad Naseer and took him to Jabran forests of Gursai. The militants assaulted Naseer asking him to tell his brother to give up the job of SPO.

Maoists stormed into a mine that is owned by public sector National Mineral Development Corporation (NMDC) in Bailadila hills in the night of October 17, and assaulted at least four Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel deployed at the site. The four CISF personnel were briefly held hostage by the Maoists before being released, Police said. The Maoists also took away hand grenades of the CISF personnel, added the Police.

According to Himalayan Times, three cadres of the Unified Communist Party of Nepal-Maoist (UCPN-M) were assaulted and injured by locals in Nuwakot District on November 9. As it reports, a clash occurred due to a dispute over the expenditure statement of a drinking water project. When a group of persons demanded details of the water project's expenditure from Modh Prasad Rijal, project chairman and chief of management committee of Jagrit Lower Secondary School, Modh Prasad, who is also UCPN-M District leader, allegedly told his cadres to assault them. During the clash three UCPN-M cadres were injured. Following the incident, the UCPN-M Nuwakot District alleged that Nepali Congress (NC) cadres were involved in the attack that left three of its cadres injured.
