The Nepali Congress (NC) retains the post of the Prime Minister. Kantipuronline reports that, the parties agreed to drop the portfolio of Deputy Prime Minister, as the debate on who should hold the post, seriously stood as the cutting issue among NC, Communist Party of Nepal – Unified Marxist Leninist (CPN-UML) and the Maoists. The Communist Party of Nepal - Maoist (CPN-M) will get Information and Communication, Local Development, Physical Planning and Works, Forest and Soil Conservation and Women, Children and Social Welfare ministries in the new cabinet. Maoists are mentally harassing Radha Majgainya, the regional representative of the Nepali Congress (Bardiya district) and secretary of the Village Working Committee, the NC alleged. The meeting of the top leaders of eight political parties is expected to sign a Common Minimum Programme (CMP) on March 31(today) ahead of the formation of the interim cabinet by the Parliament, Nepal News reports. As per the pact, the Maoists have agreed to return all seized properties – private or public – within 15 days, help return displaced persons respectfully and stop public display of weapons. The parties have also vowed to refrain from holding programmes like bandhs and strikes that cause inconvenience to the public. Kantipuronline adds that the CMP also asks for proper management of Maoist cantonments. The Maoists will stop extortion and intimidation, return sized property. Both Government forces and Maoists will leave all forcefully captured buildings and all weapons outside cantonments will be declared illegal.
