Chairman of CFSB retired Major General NK Singh stated that the Government representatives insisted that NSCN-K should restrain from extortion activities and also restrict movement of armed cadres in public places as both activities against the ceasefire ground rules besides vitiating the peaceful atmosphere. On July 25 two truck drivers, identified as Langoljam Radhamohon and Khumanthem Sanjit, hailing from Manipur, were allegedly abducted by suspected Khole-Khitovi faction of National Socialist Council of Nagaland (NSCN-KK) militants from Piphema in Dimapur District. Family members stated that the militants have demanded INR 60,00,000 as ransom. Later, a senior member of Against Corruption and Unabated Taxation (ACAUT) Nagaland General Secretary Solomon L. Awomi was abducted on August 1 from Dimapur by NSCN-KK, reports The Telegraph. He has been taken to NSCN-KK designated camp at Khehoyi village, about 15 kilometers from Dimapur. As a mark of protest, hundreds of members of ACAUT left for the Khehoyi camp to “surrender” to the militants. A source stated that “This is a non-violent form of protest and our members are prepared to camp outside the rebel camp as long as it takes to free our member”. Earlier NSCN-KK had “de-recognized” ACAUT. A senior member of NSCN-KK said Awomi has been taken away for his anti-Naga activities and added that no harm would come to him.
