Dahal was arrested from Sindhuli District headquarters for his involvement in an attack on Communist Party of Nepal-United Marxist Leninist (CPN-UML) General Secretary Ishwor Pokharel. UCPN-M vice chairman Baburam Bhattarai on October 3 renewed his call to Nepali Congress (NC) leader Ram Chandra Poudel to withdraw his candidacy to the post of Prime Minister (PM). He said Poudel must quit the "meaningless" PM race or the nation will face "a severe constitution crisis" from which there will be no escape. He also said that the reactionary forces were working together to enforce military rule in the name of Presidential rule in the country, adds Himalayan Times. He again said that the President would not resort to such act that would tarnish his image, no matter how much the reactionaries strive for it.

The UCPN-M on October 5 said its serious attention has been drawn to "abduction styled" arrest of one of its cadre by police in Sindhuli District. Issuing a press release, Maoist spokesperson Dina Nath Sharma said that its party cadre Rajan Dahal was arrested on fake charges "in a manner reminiscent of the Panchayati days". Sharma further said that the arrest was inspired by political vengeance and demanded immediate and unconditional release of Dahal.

The Unified Communist Party of Nepal-Maoist (UCPN-M) chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal aka Prachanda was appointed coordinator of a seven-member taskforce formed to iron out differences on the contentious issues that remains in constitution drafting on October 13, reports Nepal News. A meeting held at the office of Constituent Assembly (CA) chairman Subash Nemwang in Singha Durbar (Parliament) gave this responsibility to Prachanda. Meanwhile, the UCPN-M chairman Prachanda called on Prime Minister (PM) Madhav Kumar Nepal at the latter's official residence in Baluwatar in Kathmandu. The latest political situation of the country was chiefly discussed during the meeting that went on for more than one hour. According to a statement issued by PM’s press advisor, PM Nepal stressed on the need to do away with the existing differences between the political parties in order to forge a national consensus.

A Dhading District leader of the Communist Party of Nepal-United Marxist Leninist (CPN-UML), identified as Shiva Thapa Magar (40) was found dead nearby a forest three days after his abduction by Young Communist League (YCL) on October 19, reports Nepal News. He allegedly abducted by a group of YCL cadres led by Bikram Tamang, in charge of YCL's Dhading District area no.1, from Darkha-7 of the District on October 16 while he was returning home after watching a volleyball match. However, the Unified Communist Party of Nepal-Maoist (UCPN-M) Dhading District committee said the party has no hand in the murder of Thapa.

Chief of the United Nations Mission in Nepal (UNMIN) Karin Landgren met Unified Communist Party of Nepal-Maoist (UCPN-M) chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal aka Prachanda on October 21 and expressed worry over the lack of progress in the peace process, reports Nepal News. During the meeting Landgren said that the protracted political deadlock has obstructed the peace process, and underlined the need for early political consensus between the parties and start of works on the integration and rehabilitation of the Maoist combatants. She also reminded Dahal that it would be impossible to carry out integration and rehabilitation within the remaining three months of UNMIN's term if the parties fail to gets their acts together.
