As Nepal News reports, Unified Communist Party of Nepal-Maoist (Unified CPN-Maoist) politburo member Gopal Kiranti has said, Nepali Congress (NC) and Communist Party of Nepal- Unified Marxist Leninist (CPN-UML) lawmakers would be barred from Udaypur District as they had become an obstacle for the new constitution. Speaking at a press conference organised by Revolutionary Journalists Association, Udaypur, on April 7, Kiranti said, NC and UML Constituent Assembly (CA) members will not be allowed in the districts. We will chase them away as they are creating a hurdle in the timely completion of the constitution writing process, he said. Further, the Unified CPN-Maoist politburo member Gopal Kirati said that his party will not allow the Government security personnel to enter the villages. Kirati, a former minister, said, “Security personnel obeying the orders of a Government neglected by people better stay off the villages.”

"If somebody has made a bullet to target my head, I welcome it. I am ready to die for Nepali people," he said. Over 600 Maoist cadres are engaged in the training session conducted in Bahundagi and Satasidham. The training participants have been told to stay as guests of the local villagers. The Maoists have chosen forest areas for conducting training, which they say was a preparation for possible conspiracies by regressive forces. They are trained on using baton, knives and guns. In Kathmandu, the Unified Communist Party of Nepal-Maoist (Unified CPN-Maoist) cadres clashed with the Police on April 28, when the Police tried to vacate schools and private buildings occupied by the Maoists, according to Kantipuronline. Police stepped up raids suspecting that Maoists may have brought weapons. The report adds that with the mass exodus of Unified CPN-Maoist cadres and people from various Districts to Kathmandu for participating in the May 1 mass protest and indefinite strike call, tension is escalating in Kathmandu. The Maoists have started occupying schools, public buildings, party palaces, guest houses and other places to shelter their cadres.

In a press meet organised in Nepalgunj District 208 cadres of the Maoist including 44 commanders of the Maoist cantonments from Kailali, Shurkhet and Rolpa Districts made the announcement of quitting the party. The defectors include 69 from Kailali, 56 from Dang, 26 from Rupandehi and some leaders from Bardiya, Rolpa, Udayapur, Jhapa and Kathmandu. “We will take to retaliation against the ‘so-called Maoists’” if necessary, they warned.
