Separately, ULFA 'vice president' Pradip Gogoi warned, in Guwahati, on the same day, that, for a lasting solution to terrorism in the Northeast, other outfits of the region also have to be involved in the peace process. He said, " There is already heavy reaction in Manipur and Assam against the concept of the Greater Nagaland. The Chief Ministers of these states have already warned the centre that they would vehemently oppose any move for greater Nagaland." Gogoi had been arrested under Terrorist and Disruptive Activities Act (TADA) in 1998.

According to a media report, the Harkat-ul-Jihad-i-Islami (HuJI) asked Muslim women to quit jobs in Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) Police and has set January 25 as the deadline, failing which they would "face serious consequences". The threat was reportedly issued through a poster the group pasted at a mosque in Shahdra Sharief, Rajouri district. It also said all Muslim girls should get married after they reach the age of 15 and should desist from taking bath in the open in rivulets. The poster, issued by the 313 HuJI brigade, based in Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK), "directed" Imams (priests) to make an announcement to "implement the order effectively". As reported earlier, a similar threat was issued earlier this month (January) by the lesser-known Lashkar-e-Jabbar (LeJ) terrorist outfit0.

The Hizb-ul-Mujahideen (HM) in a faxed statement said the PDP-led coalition government’s ‘healing touch’ policy was killing the "freedom movement" in Jammu and Kashmir. The outfit’s "Central Field Command Council" observed that Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, in the name of applying healing touch to the wounds of the people, was killing a "freedom movement." The Hizb alleged that the Sayeed government had employed the policy of making Kashmiris fight one another and thus perpetuate its "puppet" rule in the State. It also accused the State government of backtracking on its promises of disbanding the Special Operations Group (SOG). The group also claimed that deploying members of the SOG, Village Defence Committees (VDCs) and the yet-to-be-introduced Jammu and Kashmir Voluntary Force (JKVF) at Police Stations was a game plan to involve State Police in counter-insurgency operations.

According to a media report of January 25, the National Socialist Council of Nagaland -Khaplang (NSCN-K) has accused its rival Isak Muivah faction (NSCN-IM) of issuing death threats to the non-Nagaland People’s Front (NPF) candidates participating in the forthcoming Assembly elections of February 26. NSCN-K further alleged that the threat specifically targets candidates from the ruling Congress party. The NSCN-K ‘home secretary’ Hokato Vushe reportedly said, "At least seven Congress candidates around Dimapur had been telephoned by a deputy kilonser (minister) of the NSCN-IM on January 22 and 23, who warned them of dire consequences if they did not quit the Congress and join the NPF. They were warned that their hands and legs would be smashed if they contest for the Congress — meaning death." The NSCN-K leader also accused the NSCN-IM of engendering defection in the ruling Congress party. The NPF is an offshoot of Nagaland’s oldest Opposition party — the United Democratic Front.
