Anwar Masih received the threats from LeT in Lahore, said Joseph Francis, coordinator with the Centre for Legal Aid, Assistance and Settlement, a Christian rights group. In December 2004, a court had exonerated Masih of the charge that he had insulted Islam and ordered the man to be freed, Francis added. Three terrorist groups, while declaring their opposition to the April 2005 Srinagar-Muzaffarabad service, have threatened to disrupt it. "This will weaken the idea of Kashmir uniting with Pakistan. This is a conspiracy by India to weaken Jihad," Mufti Abdur Rauf, a spokesperson for the outlawed Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM), told Associated Press. "We will see what benefits India wants to get from this bus service. If it infiltrates spies into Azad Kashmir [Pakistan occupied Kashmir] and there is an increase in atrocities by Indian security forces in the occupied Kashmir, we will certainly try to stop it," he said. Hizb-ul-Mujahideen (HM) chief, Syed Salahuddin, is reported to have that the bus service was unimportant and would not improve the plight of people in Jammu and Kashmir. "The bus service is a failed effort to put ointment on the wounds of Kashmiris," he said in a statement issued from Muzaffarabad. Separately, a former spokesperson of the banned Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT), Yahya Mujahid, told AFP that "This cosmetic gesture will not curb the demand of freedom by Kashmiris."

The Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) has threatened to carry out more Jehanabad-type attacks to secure the release of its cadre from jails in different parts of the country. A two-page statement issued on November 14 in the name of Azad, spokesperson of the Central Committee (provisional) of the CPI-Maoist, said hundreds of "comrades" were languishing in the Bewoor, Gaya, Buxar, Bhagalpur, Muzaffarpur, Hazaribagh, Ranchi, Bethia and Bagha jails in the State of Bihar and Jharkhand. Besides, scores were in the jails of Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Orissa, Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh. The CPI-Maoist ‘pledged’ that its "heroic PLGA guerrillas" under the ‘Central Military Commission’ would secure their release. Hailing what it called the "historic politico-military campaign in Jehanabad," the statement narrated the Maoists' "siege" of the town on November 13. It claimed that during the two-and-a-half hour long "Operation Jailbreak", about 1,000 men conducted simultaneous raids on the jail and other places, including the district armoury, killed the "State-sponsored Ranvir Sena" leaders, captured several activists and seized hundreds of rifles and thousands of rounds of ammunition. These actions, it claimed, demonstrated the justness of the Maoist cause.
