The Dalits were killed by the Ranvir Sena in Pariari village of Arwal district in Bihar. All the victims were suspected to have been supporters of left wing extremists—Naxalites—of the Maoist Communist Center (MCC). The police said that 23 Sena activists have been accused in the case. Meanwhile, the MCC has reportedly threatened to avenge the killing of its sympathisers by the Ranvir Sena.

"Ansari and his colleagues are hereby warned not to kneel at the doorsteps of Delhi or else they will face dire consequences," the outfit’s ‘field commander general’ Mohammad Umer said. The Daily Star reported that Aamra Dhakabashi, a socio-cultural organisation and Hifazate Khatme Nabuwat Andolon (HKNA) during a meeting at Muktangan in Dhaka, on January 23, have issued threats against the government if it fails to declare the Ahmadiyyas ‘non-Muslims’. Leaders of the organisation also announced that they would march to the central mosque of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaat Bangladesh at the Dhaka city's Bakshibazar on June 18 and recite the Juma (Friday) prayers there. The letter was delivered at the office on February 8 and a group reportedly claiming itself to be the ‘mujahids’ of Al Qaeda has given a seven-day ultimatum to the Deputy High Commissioner to pay the money, which it wants to use for sending ‘Bangladeshi Mujahids’ to fight persecutors of Muslims in India. The letter, similar to an earlier warning sent to the South Korean embassy, from a group calling itself "Yellow-Red Overseas Organisation," was reportedly received at the Pakistan mission on April 19. It threatened attacks on major facilities in Australia, Japan, Kuwait, Pakistan, Philippines, Singapore, South Korea and Thailand between April 20 and 30. Prime Minister Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali is due to visit Thailand from April 28 to hold talks with his Thai counterpart Thaksin Shinawatra in Bangkok. Police had arrested 18 Maoist guerrillas in Kalimela and Badigeta villages in the southern district of Malkangiri while they were returning from a public meeting. "We cannot go for peace when our own people are behind bars," a leader of the People's War Group (PWG) was quoted as saying in a local newspaper. "We will kidnap 18 government employees if all the arrested people are not released," he added. The outfit is also upset after a fast track court on September 24 convicted 11 people, including a woman, in Mayurbhanj district.
